Cold weather problems

My 2000 EB Expy 115K miles has developed 2 annoying problems that only happen when the weather gets cold. First the gas pedal becomes very difficult to press almost feels like it's stuck once you do get by the initial stuck it is ok until you start from a stop again and it does this all day long. Maybe I just need some WD 40 on the linkage?

The second thing when I start my Expy and it is cold outside my oil guage reads 0 and my oil light is on this last until the engine warms up with the guage bouncing between 0 and normal pressure I think this might just be a faulty sending unit since the oil level is normal and my motor has made no noises and seems to run just fine while showing no pressure where is the sending unit and how hard would it be for me to change it..

Thanks for your help

1. i wouldnt spray wd-40, but maybe some carb. cleaner or something along those line.

2. i would think maybe the sending unit also, but maybe someone here will verify

As for your first problem I suspect you need to clean your throttle body. Take off the duct leading to it and spray the cleaner around the butterfly at the edges. Use only throttle body cleaner as there is a teflon coating you need to be careful of. The second problem sure sounds like a bad sender.

Mine's doing the same

My 01 F-150 does the same. the oil pressure lite comes on only when it's very cold (37 or below F) outside. After a few minutes of running the needle jumps from rest to more than half the scale. I'm figuring its a sensor issue. I'll look into it this weekend and report.

I clean the throttle body 1x per year. I spray some throttle body cleaner on the surfaces and use an old toothbrush to clean the walls and the throttle plate itself. Keep the throttle operating smoothly.

What weight oil are you using? Consider using a 0W-30 or a 5W-20.
How cold is COLD?
Changing the sending unit may be the ultimate fix.

My 01 does the same thing, I'll try cleaning the TB and see if it helps.

i had the pedal problem and used 3m throtle body cleaner. you have to spray it into the throtle body and let it sit. Read direction on can. As far as the oil we had the same problem also you will need a new oil pressure sending unit the parts not to exspensive but the labor will hurt. It is awkard to get to laying on the ground but not bad if it is on a lift.
food luck

New oil press. switch

Installed a new oil pressure switch. That fixed it. $8 at Autozone and 30 minutes later I was done.
