I need to repaint the wheels on my F 550, 2000 model. My parts houses do not have any numbers or info for the light gray Ford OEM paint. All I need are a couple of spray cans. Suggestions?
I bought a XL with 5 steel wheels so I could do a 5 tire rotation. Dumb spare is black, the rest are Ford argent silver. So I decided to paint the one.
VHT makes a Ford argent silver wheel paint. I found many sources for it on the internet. Since I was ordering a bunch of other stuff like airbags and mudflaps, I inlcuded it in the order from summit racing www.summitracing.com.
Been too cold/too busy to paint it yet, can't comment on the color match.
Here's a little trick I was shown years ago for painting a wheel.
Instead of dismounting the tire or masking it off, just get a big jar of Vaseline and smear a thick coat all over the tire. Spray the wheel as normal, then wipe off the coating of Vaseline.
I can't specifically tell you the paint code or where to buy it, but I believe the wheels are made by Accuride (http://www.accuridewheels.com/). You could probably contact their tech dept and ask for a paint code, or if they have a DupliColor or DuPont paint code for the wheels. You could also contact Paintscratch.com and ask them if they can match it.
