That was a great commercial.

But I'd have to say the best truck commercial ever was the one Ford pulled a while back. The one where a Ford truck is pulling something out of the water on a boat ramp, and it's a Chevy, hooked to a boat! And the person standing says something like "It sank like a rock." Priceless.

I've tried to find it online.

Any links?

The thing I love about this commercial is the image of quality it gives the new super duty. This is the kind of commercial that helps people to think again if they perceive ford vehicles as being low quality.

One thing that I noticed...........It showed the truck exploded in pieces for QUITE some time, and showed it as LITTLE as possible once it was assembled........Wonder if there's a reason for that.............Hmmmmmmmmm.

One thing that DID intrige me. I noticed the dual turbochargers were shafted together............I guess thats to keep them spooled to the same speed. THAT ought to induce some turbo lag.

It's supposed to decrease turbio lag.

I agree with Gunner15a. They show it exploded for too long. No look at the new interior. Maybe the reviews arn't praising it? I know I'm not so impressed with the thermos bottle ridges everywhere. New features like the bed step where given a short view, but it was hard to see most of the other changes. The turbos could have been shown better. I notice the lack of any mention of HP or torque numbers. Longer leaf spirngs are a stupid selling point to talk about. It makes it seem like their grasping for anything. So-So ad.

What I'm thinking is that it might be a clutch set up between the two. Something like a snowmobile clutch that makes it so they aren't really tied together all the time. From what I read, one turbo is on most of the time (if not all) and the other one works like a current turbo which somehow will decrease the spool up time.

I think the shaft seen in the commercial was from only one of the turbos, linking the impellers together. The two turbos themselves are linked sequentially. That is the smaller one outputs into the larger one. The idea being that the smaller one provides the initial low RPM boost, then the larger one takes over as the need for speed increases. There are some pretty clear pictures on the Ford website HERE. (You have to click on the 6.4 Powerstroke button, then "Dual stage turbos" for the picture.) The actual impeller shafts of the two turbos are perpendicular to each other. Whichever way it works, it seems like a real beast!

Not sure that that would work. IF..and I say IF, you got one turbo feeding one bank of cylinders, and the other one feeding the other side, when they spool up you'd get an imbalance.......I dunno, maybe I'm talking out of my butt.......

Gunner15a

Edit: I was talking out of my butt. I thought that there were two same sized turbos, each feeding a bank of cylinders. After viewing that slide show there is a small and a large turbo. One for the low end (taking off from a stop light, etc) and one for the high end (Highway cruising). Thanks for the vid, man
