Yeah stock for stock ford is quicker. My old boss has an 03 duramax, and hes always talks how great and how powerful his truck is. So one day he lined up agianst my 06, little did i know he had his truck set on the 60hp postion on the van aken, and guess what. Yea i still beat him, except i had a nice cloud of black smoke lingering around my truck because of his. Needless to say, he shut up.
When it boils down to trucks, I don't mean to talk trash, but I realized this afternoon that GM is really responsible for this new craze in Crossover vehicles! Congrats!! They invented the car to truck crossover vehicle!! I was watching a King Ranch driving down the road (all stock) and right behind it was a Chevy 3/4 ton stock truck and that's when it hit me that the Chevy truck is more of a Crossover vehicle than a truck! It looked so weak following that King Ranch that I'd think twice before putting a real trailer behind it! I guess I must just be a proud Ford owner. But again, congrats to Chevy for inventing the Crossover vehicle! And some wonder why they ride so much like a car???
My brother in law is a Chevy man and has an '06 duramax with the Diablo on the 60 hp mode. I have driven it and the truck will get up and go but I decided at the time that I still liked my '04 SD more even though mine was 2 years older. Yes the Duramax was faster than my stock (duh) but it drove like a Chevy (city truck). The Ford just feels like a work truck when you drive it and ride in it. Just better "Ford" quality. IMO
Those D-Max's all look like city trucks. They all seem to sit extremely low and have appear to have lower ground clearance than the Fords.
I've yet to meet anyone that has a DMAX that does anything with it besides drive around town. I've never seen one getting a good workout or one thats seen some abuse.
