This is cool.

Between you and Jack (DOHCmarauder), the B.S. around here should be minimized (and I might even be able to throw out my hip waders).

Well, you don't stand alone... well, you do, mainly because I am on the otherside of the globe... not because I don't agree with you.

We had two crap cars. a '96 taurus and an '00 sable - both nice cars, but spent more time in the shop than being driven. Also the reason my mom won't buy another Ford.

But I don't think they had a reputation so bad that it would be a bad idea to use the nameplate on a new and improved version.

I have to agree. It was an ok car but far from anything that should boost sales.

Anyway - I personally think the time for calling it the Taurus has passed.

Call it the Taurus when it gets released - or don't call it at all.
In my experience, name changes only ever reduce sales - not increase it.

Oh, and RS - a new sig, thanks to you!

Sales of Montego were so low in 2006 that they can't get any lower. Sable can't be that unsuccessful.

Calling the milan a Sable is a horrible idea. Unlike the Taurus they've actually spent money advertising that name. Milan has it's own new image and it's not a bad one.
