Pickup bed questions

Im working on my 46 ford right now. I got a cab off a big old truck and im in the process of putting it on a ranger frame. So, the truck is no where near original, but Ive been trying my best to keep it as original-looking as possible. Right now, I am searching for a bed, and someone offered me a '40 bed for a good deal. My question is, how different is a '40 bed from the '46? And, how different are the fenders? Would it be possible to put '46 fenders on a '40 bed? If anyone's got any ideas and experience with these beds, I sure would appreciate some help. thanks. magicbus
