I have an 85 f150 4x4 300 inline 6 (had installed a new jasper engine, it now has 23k miles). I have had this pulsing vibration usually at 50 - 55 mph (even before the new engine). Not too bad for awhile but now it seems to be getting worse and I can feel it at around 40 - 60 mph. The vibration was light at first but now it is real heavy (lack of better terms) it even rattels the floor board. I have change u joints, the trany was serviced when I had the motor installed. Today while the engine was running I had the hood up just looking and could here that pulse around my harmonic balance. Could this be the problem? I have also heard that the tranny could cause this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Check for bent drive shafts, wheels, accumalated crud on the wheels. If the vibration was present BEFORE the new engine was installed, the vibes are most likely somewhere in the drivetrain.
Hearing the noise while the truck is standing still kind of knocks the driveline out of the picture. How about the motor mts were they relaced? A engine not mounted in rubber carries a lot of stuff to the frame where it amplifies and gives
all kinds of vibs.
