I'm a newbie and recently switched from a V10 to a PSD. One thing I noticed is that I have to press the throttle pedal down maybe 1/2" or so before it does anything. I'm starting to get used to it but it's kinda strange as I'll be sitting at a green light for a sec or 2 before I get going. Sometimes I get a little too impatient and then it kinda jumps off the line. Kinda embarrassing as I feel like I'm learning to drive a stick shift.
You better hope it ain't the TPS. THat damn thing is $770.00 (full retail) and you can't buy it alone. You have to buy the whole pedal assembly. If you go to http://www.discountfordpartsaty2kford.com/ they have the wrong one on their website. I called them and asked. They will sell you the correct one a bit cheaper around $600.00. That STILL is a bunch of money for a sensor.....ask me how I know. I found my (new to me) pedal assembly at a salvage yard.....$25.00. Good luck and keep us informed.
The powerstroke shop sells the whole pedal assembly brand new OEM for 173.00 but i believe the price went up some since i bought mine a monthh ago.

Wow!!! Now it ain't so funny anymore!!! I was hoping it was just an adustment since it only has 36,000 miles on it. Are the TPS known to go bad so soon? Since I've gotten used to it I can start from a dead stop without "jumping", but there's still that first 1/2" that doesn't do anything. I did some searching and couldn't find much on adjustments. Only one was something about making the mounting holes elongated but didn't go into it at all.
You could try to bend the little tab out. Theres a tab that switches the truck from idle mode to run mode, you will see it it pushes in on a small orange button on the pedal assembly. If you bend it outsome it may fix ur problem. Not too much though because the button still must be pressed in when your foot is completely off the pedal, so the truck idles.

It is unique because everything on the engine is electronically controlled it requires a fully electronic pedal. No throttle cable. so you wont be able to swap in a gasser or an old IDI pedal. It simply wont work.

$770...............what the hell, damn and mine was acting up in the fall, hardly driven the truck this winter so I have forgotten about it. I think its best I forget about about it for now.
Ed, thanks for the update!!! Still bucks but much less. I'll do some more testing, etc and get back to you on this if I still need one. I disconnected the batteries for a while to reset the computer. Seems to be a bit better but need to drive it some more.

Mine went out last August. It is a '95 but I bought a '96-'97 pedal assembly and it worked. Don't ask me what the difference is but it worked in mine. The part numbers on all the components on the pedal assembly were the same. Hope this helps.

Is this normal for a PSD?

Um, I may be the only one that noticed this, but our throttle pedals are touchy! There may be something wrong but I wouldn't be suprised if the pedal was fine. It takes some getting used to.
