I have a 73 3/4 ton 4x4 long bed truck, and with the plow mounted on its quite long.
This truck doesn’t t have power steering so driving into driveways to plow isn’t that easy plus it’s a manual trans.
Anyway, I have a neighbor that is moving and I asked about theier Ford Bronco. They have a 96 with auto trans. IMO this would be a real nice plow truck for dong the community roads and driveways.
Do you guys see any reason why this wouldn’t make a good plow truck? Front end issues maybe? Transmission issues? I’m assuming the transfer case and 4WD system is a non issue being used as a plow truck.
Western plows didn’t list anything for the Bronco’s. one dealer said it’s too light of a truck to fit a plow on. Is there anything I can do to beef up the front suspension?

I plow with a 78 Bronco and like it very well. It turns on a dime and I like having all the spare parts and tools inside instead of in the bed. One down side is that the windows can fog and getting heat to the rear in a 78 can be a problem. I made my own mounts (antique snoway) so I don't know about availability by brand. I've heard good things about Timbrens for the front suspension I had them installed on the rear of a 98 dodge ram and they worked well made it feel like a truck. And have you wandered over to plowsite.com? Great plow forum lots of knowledge over there. TB
I think I ran into something in my search about that site. I’ll go check it out.
So what is a Timbrens? Do you see any problem mounting a plow on a newer Bronco? Thanks for he help,

Timbrens are a heavy rubber helper. You add weight to your suspension, camper, lift the plow, etc. and the suspension sags to a point and then the Timbrens take over and support the load. I don't know why a newer bronco wouldn't work with the right plow aren't the 150 front suspensions the same?
Your guess is good as mine. I only looked at one site for a plow (trying to use the one we already use (Western). They have you start with the drop down listings, year, make then model isn’t listed. I called a local dealer and he say let me look it up on the computer…I said don’t bother I already did. If he knew his product well enough then he at least could have said the reason why it not available, or mention other options.
After doing some searching there are some plows on Broncos – just not Western I guess.
Thanks for the help.

unless im mistaken, any plow that will bolt on a similer year F150, should go on a bronco.
IMHO....you should add some heavier springs, or air bags to haul the weight.
you will need airbags in the front springs or air shocks to keep the front tires from leanin in when ya lift the plow.just dont get careyed away with the ramin snow banks and such go slow and be carful light duty independent from ends dont like a lot of extra weight but drivin rite will handle it.as for your plow coming of the 73 and boltin directly onto the 96 aint goin to happen youll have to refab the mounts on the plow bracket not real bigie.youll like the fact that the 96 is a whole lot shorter give it a better turning radius and itll just get around better.i have a meyers plow on my 85 and love it
Get any plow for f150 Bolt on .Only problem and they have kit is the air bag sensor (keep bag from going off (could disconnect.). Use F350 2x4 coils fit right in . (what I used ) I had air bags but coils work good. Install good trans cooler. The bronco traction wise plowed better in 2x4 than truck in 4x4. Drive wheels off it.
Good luck keep posted.
