I have a 2001 7.3 SC 4x4 dually 5"exhaust Air raid intake system and guages. I purchased the truck about a month ago with the boost guage not working. The line is hooked into back of guage correctly with no kinks. problem is, I get no boost on the guage whatsoever. After reading some threads on the awesome site, I'm wondering if the line isn't T'd into the correct place. From what I've read it looks like it T's into the MAP line that runs behind the oil filler cap. The previous owner T'd into the black rubber line coming off the wastegate. Is this correct?
I'm a newbie and have learned tons since finding this site. Thanks to all. Just became a supporter today in fact!!
I have mine in the Map line and not the waste gate.AP
Is that the best place to "T" in then? Is it wrong to "T" in where mine is at now and should I get reading from there? If I move mine to the MAP line then, does the red line go back to the wategate then?
The red line should go to the waste gate. If you don't get a reading from the map line then the guage is bad or you have a leak somewhere in the turbo system. I used that picture above as guidence for my install. Here is a link to anothe guide.
Thanks for the help hoseman. After it warms up a little tomorrow I'll switch it to the MAP line and put the red line back on the wastegate and see if anything registers on the guage. I'll report back.
Thanks for the help hoseman. I T'd in to the MAP line and put the red line back on the wastegate and got the guage working correctly now. I still don't understand why it was hooked up like that, oh well!
