Fuel Pump Question
I am assuming the pump of bad, as I have changed out the fuel filter, and turned the ignition on with the line coming from the tank over a bucket (not a drop of fuel came out). And yes, the inertia switch is in the correct position.
If any of you think the pump is bad, can I add an inline pump along the frame rail and wire it in as opposed to dropping the tank to replace the factory pump? Also, can I simply wire the new inline pump using the same wires for the factory pump?
Any help would be appreciated since I am about to embark on a straight axle conversion.

Dropping the tank isn't as bad as you've probably heard, especially if you siphon it nearly dry before you start. Another BIG help is to keep the 8 bolts wet with Liquid Wrench for a few days before you start. You'll need the coupling tools, but you can get a full set of Lisle or CarQuest ones for less than $10 and you'll need them for other fittings on the truck. Look at pictures #44-47 here:

When you get it out like they show, you can try to power it up and see if it runs. If it does, then you might be able to find the blockage & fix it - the plastic housing is easy to remove from the pump motor.
