OK. I feel dumb, but, all this time I thought that I had a 302 in my Bronco. When replacing my distributor cap I messed up the spark plug wires - no problem, checked my shop manual and wired them as a 302 -- ran really bad. After messing with it awhile, I wired it as a 351 and it worked fine. How do I tell for sure which engine I have? The VIN code on engine type is a "G" which doesn't match my year of Bronco in my manual.
Anyone?
call up any auto parts store and they should be able to help you out. just tell them that you are trying to figure out what kind of engine that you have and they should be able to tell you from your VIN number.
G was used for the 351W/5.8L with Variable Venturi carb or High Output option.
Post the VIN and the door sticker codes, and I can tell you what it had. If you send me an e-mail, I can attach a 320K Word.doc that explains it all. Just make sure to ask specifically for it in your e-mail. I get a lot, and don't always recognize what they're asking for.
