new car/ new chip

I feel like I'm cheeting on you guys! I was just at the TDIclub.com forums as I just bought an 04 Jetta TDI to pile some miles on, drive in crappy weather(while the Super Duty stays nice and warm inside) and offset my fuel costs! So I just want to let you know that those guys can never be as cool as you guys! And some updated pictures will be coming soon of my truck. Got the grille inserts today. So I'll put it on and take pictures this weekend.
By the way. . . I don't know if I'veposted this yet. . . but I got another chip from jody. . . wow. we put the smoker setting on. . high idle. . . lopy idle and a test drive through setting. smoker setting works to say the least. I love the smell of the smoke in that setting. ITs sweet! High idle works fantastic(sound really cool when you turn it on too). lopy idle. . . not sure as I don't know what its supposed to sound like. But that setting and smokey setting sound the same. . . not really lopy. . . just rough. Drive through setting needs work. . .but thats expected for a test guess But anyway. . . waiting for the weather to get a little better so I can go blow some serious smoke. . . and take pictures. Talk to you all later.

So Jody burned you a chip for the Jetta? With all those settings? That's cool! Did it do a lot for performance?

Hey Tim- Where do you live? Do they salt the roads? Why on earth would you drive a little beer can in bad weather when you have a nice safe beast to drive???

Just curious.

BTW-I know a guy with a TDI Jetta and he gets 45-50 MPG, but no where near as many SPG (SMILES PER GALLON) as a Super Duty...

I didn't know that Jody worked on other brands!

I just completed a timing belt job on a 1996 Passat TDI that someone put some huge injectors in. The think would smoke just idleing but talk about some stupid power! It was pretty funny driving it around and goosing it up a hill. HUGE cloud of smoke and the thing would flat boogie.
I'll have to ask Jody about tunes for some of my customers.

Ok, let me see if I understand this right. You buy a LD, (little diesel), to pull around behind your BD. Kinda like a motor home with a pull behind, right?

So do you go to place's and park way out and then use the LD to park up close?

Thumbs up

Yes I have a beetle, but have not driven it in a long time. New trans that was suppose to be an aftermarket beefier unit was junk. It has been sold and is ready to be picked up this week.

Jody has never tuned on the VW's. I wish he could have, but the guy we emailed about it emailed Jody once and never got back in touch with him about becoming a dealer in the US.

My TDI had Upsolute programing .

If you go with something. Go Rocketchips.

We are going to offer tuning for another brand, but not TDI.

HAHAHA. Thats hilarious Yeah they salt heavily around here. They salt if they even think there is snow on the way. they salt so heavily. . . that it looks like snow!! I just am really **** about my truck. I don't like to drive it in the salt. Besides. . . it wrecked my wheels! Those VW's are very well engineered cars. its plenty strong and safe. But whomever said it was way right. . . it may get 45 MPG but it will never ever ever have as many smiles per gallon. I love my truck. And wow does it start well! Started it today reluctantly at 2 degrees outside. . . with the weak block heater only plugged in for a couple hours. It was clankin but it fired immediately.
What we're trying to accomplish with the drive through setting is retard the timing and maybe some other things to quiet the engine down so I can talk to the drivethrough people without shutting it down. Anyway. . . DP I'll contact you this next week after the bears (hopefully) win the superbowl to chat. Thanks alot.
Tim
