Unhappy idle only??

I have a 02 f250 7.3. Engine light comes on and no response from throttle pedal. Assuming pedal was the problem I changed it a week ago and no fix. Have checked connections and tried reseting computer by disconnecting batteries for a while. Have figgured out that holding the cruise control off button seems to "reduce" the problem. the truck will maintain speed (if i can get there) if I engage the cruise, if pedal driving, power surges til light comes on and no pedal response. No codes show on reader, and a week at ford service was no help either. Please help me figure out what is going on!

From: Rio Rico, AZ.
Look for chafed/broken wires in the wiring harness.
Yeah, it's a pain, but that has happened before.

if you have low oil the pedal will act up or maby the pcm is getting a signal from a sensor that is bad telling the pcm that it is not safe to run or fuel the motor just a guess. when my HPOP went out i lost the pedal every now and than so maby hpop is going out

ynot if you have a DMM you can check voltage output on the pedal at several places down the harness to narrow it down.

PM Me your email address and I'll send you the pinpoints.
