Hi Everyone-
Newbie to the forum and the modular engine world. My friend has a '97 F150 4x4, automatic, 4.6, with 227,000. He blew a head gasket the other day and is looking at replacing the engine with a lower mileage model from smashed up Crown Vic. It's also a '97, what I'm wondering is if anyone knows which years will interchange (with accessories or induction part swapping, etc.) and if this one in particular will work. Thanks, bigj-dog
You would need to make sure they are both romeo's first or windsors for that matter. Then there will be other issues, you'd want to use the intake out of the truck so all the wiring will still work.
Great information, thanks!! His engine is a windsor, we haven't removed it yet, but it seems that with a little swapping, as long as the replacement is a windsor, it shouldn't be much of a problem to swap. At my local scrapyard they get twice as much for an engine for the truck as they do for a crown vic. Sounds like a racket to me.
