Mark VIII 4.6 and Trans Wrining

Hi All,

I know there are a few guys out there installing or have installed Mark VIII 4.6 Mod engine and trans into their rods. What are you guys doing as far as wiring everything up? I have been researching standalone systems and WOW are they pricey. I hope someone else have come up with a better solution or I will have to go another route i.e. traditional. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance.

I've got a 4.6 in my truck. It's from a '94 Mark VIII. I'm just using the stock wiring. I eliminated a ton of the wiring. I think I have all the wiring figured out, I just haven't physically wired it yet. Hoping to hear it run in the next month.

Thanks Greg. Do you have any instructions on what you did?

COOL, and you're close enough for me to come and copy what you've done Or at least you can post pics. I'm using the same engine in another project. HELP!

I believe that with a little digging in the Ford crate engine resources that you could find everything you need wrt wiring. Here is a link I found on my first search that gives the pinouts for all the engine components: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...xEPfY4NtC27New
There may also be more model-specific data in the Lincoln manuals.

you can also go on e bay and purchase original ford wiring diagrams for your specific donor car, i got them for my project and there really awesome to trace out all your circuits, there huge 16x32 pages, none of these pages were found in the original service manuals, my application was a bit different using the 5.0l but i was able to pinpoint and remove which ever circuit i did not need out of the harness.

Good post, exactly what I've done. I was going to work on the tilt front-end next, but maybe I'll try to get this thing wired and started next week. If everything goes okay I'll definitely post pics and let everyone know what I've done. Another thing is, if you're using a later model Mark VIII engine I've heard they are a little harder to wire. They have the P.A.T.S. system which can be disabled and apparently they are less forgiving on other wiring issues. I've learned a lot from ModularFords, but looking at the wiring schematic wire by wire really helps a lot.
