Umm....Ok...I'll admit this. They did some of the chrome work on project "old skool" on the new Trucks! show. Admitting I watched it while sitting in the dialysis chair.....
I had my F-3 emblems done by them. I have mixed feelings. They did a great job but it took a long time and it was expensive. I also think they gouged me on the shipping and handling. The box they returned it in was about four inches square and weighed practically nothing. The cost for S&H was $13.95. I paid $110 for the chrome work.
so has anyone had a grill done for 53-56 ??? any idea on cost of chroming ??? I know that the prep work will add to it... but just a ballpark idea would help me... I plan on calling advanced next week... but just wondering..

It seems to me that a grille has about the same area as a bumper or possibly less so what does a bumper cost? I'd also look at a motorcycle shop. They do a lot of chroming and you might get a better deal there. They will have to see the grille before they give you an estimate. I tried to get a ball park price over the phone too but they would not do that...
$450-$500 doesn't really scare me, whey you consider a chrome grille for a 56 costs $450 in the Mid-Fifty catalog, and I would have to change the air deflectors in my 53 to make the 56 work. I did a 64 Fairlane Sports Coupe a couple of years ago, and it cost about $650 for both bumpers, but they were HUGE! As far as shipping, I wonder if it wasn't so high on chromed parts due to insurance. Just a thought
The copper would be cool. You would just need the clear chrome over it to keep it shiney. That should be cheaper than normal because they don't have to apply the nickle coating. Jag
