Question for the chapter at large...
Who is from Long Island or otherwise in or close to NYC? I might be procuring an item (perfectly legal) out in Shirley and I was wonder if I could get someone to pick it up for me and meet me halfway or meet me on the outskirts of the city and guide me in. I'll pay for gas, tolls, beer, and ammo.
I'm up in St Johnsville and I barely know this town much less any place south of the Thruway. I don't wish to disclose the object of my desire until I'm sure I own it; it's sort of a big deal to me if not to you. Let's say I don't want to jinx myself. If anything changes either way, I'll post here right away.

Recently went down there (Merrick) to pick up a Mustang for son. 13hrs $192 in gas and tolls round trip from Trumansburg (N of Ithaca) Went on a Sunday. I 495 isn't too bad. Hop on the Thruway and go for a ride, you won't have any problems with the roads being marked. Know of a Norm Mastimoro up that way? used to teach with him in Trumansburg. Last I heard he was Mayor of St. Johnsville (last century)

Well, as it turns out, I won't be needing to go down to Shirley after all. Told you I didn't want to jinx myself; a better deal walked right into me.
I bid on and won a Top Loader on Ebay and had bid on a second one, a Top Loader Imposter 4 speed down there in Shirley on a dollar bid. Soon, another bidder was onto it. Lo and behold, I was making a newb mistake: I wasn't properly utilizing the search function. I found the bell housing I want and now I'm looking for shift linkage, fork and a stick for it. Soon I'll be looking for another TL and a bell housing for a 460 and all necessary parts.
Thanks anyway, folks. I appreciate the responses I got and I've got some new people to respect now.
