Nobody noticed Shirley Temple?
I was surprised not to find an RIP for Shirley Temple. She died a few days ago -- maybe the day before or after Sid Caesar.
She was a great child star -- although it was even before my time
Don't know how she did as an ambassador, but she always seemed to get positive reports.
So goodbye to "Little Miss Sunshine", and yes, I should have posted this sooner.

Ya know, Tim.......
There's ONE thing that I've learned, in all my years -
"No matter what you do, and no matter what you say - You'll NEVER make everybody happy..."
(I'll just leave out the remainder of his quip. Ha!)
My friend, those are some of my Dad's most memorable words.

You know what's funny about that is that when you think "Shirley Temple", you have to think about Good Old Days, and simpler times, "The GOOOOD ship - LOLLY POP!" and all of that....
Who was she really?
When she grew up - who was she?
What was she really like?
Naive as hell, or someone with an understanding of the world in which she lived?
The earlier movies made a simpleton out of her (in light of later events), but how could she be what she was at a young age unless she was very bright in many ways...
Who was she really? What was her mind like, and what did she believe?

Political ambitions
Following her venture into television, Temple became active in the Republican Party of California. She ran as a conservative and lost to law school professor Pete McCloskey, a liberal Republican who was a staunch opponent of the Vietnam War. She was appointed Representative to the 24th United Nations General Assembly by President Dick Nixon. (September – December 1969 and was appointed United States Ambassador to Ghana (December 6, 1974 – July 13, 1976) by PresidentGerald R. Ford. She was appointed first female Chief or Protocol to the United States (July 1, 1976 – January 21, 1977), and was in charge of arrangements for President Jimmy Carter's Innauguration and inaugural ball. She served as the United States Embassador to Chekoslovakia (August 23, 1989 – July 12, 1992), having been appointed by President George H. W. Bush
Breast cancer
In 1972, Temple was diagnosed with breast cancer. The tumor was removed and a modified radical mastectomy performed. Following the operation, she announced it to the world via radio, television, and a February 1973 article for the magazine McCalls. In doing so, she became one of the first prominent women to speak openly about breast cancer.[
She served also on the board of directors of several major corporations, including BANK of AMERICA...

I hope it's all in good hands
