I'm thinking my pressure plate took a dive this morning going to work. I got within a mile and came to a stop and all of a sudden it only took about half the effort to push it in. Don't seem right since it was suppsed to been replaced 70,000 odd miles ago.
Update, seeing how I have another vehicle to drive, the truck is going to sit till warmer weather, only drive it if I need to, just have to baby it . DP- tuner will have to wait. (Buuummmer) I need to start looking for a clutch and maybe that kevlar bearing Kwik used, if I do it myself I want make sure it's good for a few years.
I have that Kevlar bushing and the replacement LUK assembly with the new flywheel.
The clutch engagment is now very smooth and positive with about 25% of the pedal effort from the previous clutch.
Also when you get the old one out, I've seen that happen a lot with clutches. There will be a radial crack in the spring of the pressure plate. When that happens the pedal effort goes way down and the clutch only has about 10% of it's holding power. Just enough grip to maneouver the vehicle but if you give it a lot of throttle the clutch slips.

Mine's a little more than 10 % I believe , slips in 4th and OD if I give it a lot of throttle. But anyhow , I looked up Carolina clutch, South bend, and dial-a-clutch and hoooley mackeral andy, too many choices. Do I really need a new fly-wheel ? 4-puck ceramic disk? The kevlar bearing is a must have , I don't want to fool with it for a long time . Thanks for the input.
I think probably you have gained as much knowledge as I have on this subject.
LUK now makes a clutch that is compatable with the stock Ford flywheel. I didn't know it at the time when I bought my kit.
I bought the stock replacement clutch as I have no plans for big power additions, ever, after my OD bearing failed and I had to replace the transmission. That really stung the wallet and I don't care to repeat it.
