Well, the engine is in the shop. The block is fine and it will be ready for assembly soon. So, what were the "factory" colors of the 1955 239ci V8? I haven't been able to find any pictures to help figure it out. Did the paint the block Ford blue back then? What about the heads and intake manifold. Any direction would be appreciated. Is there a good "restoration" book out there for my truck? Thanks as always, you guys are great!
Ray
I thought '53 was the last year for the 239. Anyway, from what I have read at http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_home.htm , Ford truck engines were red from 1948 until 51 and then turned to green for 52 and 53. After that I believe they went to Ford Blue.

The last Flathead V-8 year was 1953 and it was a 239. Then in 1954, the first Y-block V-8 came out and it was also a 239 - makes things a little confusing; especially when trying to weed through eBay auctions and the seller doesn't have any idea.
Back to the original poster, you should search for this topic in the Y-Block forum on this site. This question of engine color has been hashed through many times over there.
the 1955 engine was yellow, with argent (silver) valve covers. Other accessories (generator, starter, etc) were black. Look in the gallery under 55 or 56 (they were the same) model years and you'll see some good pics of stock engines.
Unless it's a BIG truck....or it's friday....or it's a special edition ....or the moon is in vernal equinox with mars....Here we go again!
THis is fun!

Thanks for the info. Based on what you've told me, and the pics, looks like it's yellow. Wouldn't be my choice but it is what it is! And, thanks for the humor. You guys are great and that's what keeps me coming back.
I just had a '52 flat head re-built, but it's going in a '48 F-1. Now I didn't know whether to go with Ford Red for the'48 or green for the '52, so I decided to go with Ford Blue....because I like blue!!!!!! That's what it comes down to....what you want!!!!
