Hello , This may be hashed over and over, but I bought the avms and do I have to disconnect anything but the old hubs to make these work on my 99 ranger 4.0 4x4. I have been reading the forum and I am not sure about the vacume line thing before I mount them on my truck all I have to do is turn the hubs to lock and just switch to high or low as needed ,please help me understand this.
I did not do anything other than take old off, put new on. Works. The vac is irrelavant once you install the hub locks as far as I know. The lugnut covers wont fit over them was the only drawback for me.
The dial in the truck will operate the electric shift motor on the back of the t-case to give you high and low range at the t-case. The new hubs will lock in your axles. Just lock in the hubs, get in your truck and move the dial to the desired range and take off.
When I install my AVM hubs, I'm going to disconnect the the PVH solenoid harness connector. I'm also going to plug the vacuum line between the solenoid and the reservoir tank. There will no longer be a need for the solenoid to energize, and I don't want any vacuum being diverted (or leaking over) to the PVH system.

I wondered about doing something like that, but didnt want to spend time trying to figure out what was what, and possibly screw something up. If you could take a picture while you are in there and post it, maybe I'll do likewise.

If you take off the passenger front wheel and remove the splash guard, you will see the vacuum reservoir tank in plain view. Just follow the vacuum line that connects it up with the PVH solenoid.
