Thanks for the replies. Being in NJ, we don't have any tractor/farm supply around here. It seems like all we have is houses. I guess I will try the welding cable. Is it size for size or does the welding cable have to be larger? I am moving both batteries back near the rear of the truck. I need about 17' cables.
The farther away you move the batteries from the starter, the thicker the gauge cable you should use. I can't give you exact sizes, but I can tell you that if you try to pull a bunch of amps through a cable too thin, it will heat up. Might not burst into flames immediately, but over time, it will cause accellerated hardening of the insulation and subsequent problems.
