Tire size

Hello all. I have a 07 F150 with a 4.6 in it and 3.55 rear end. I drive 100 miles (round trip) a day to work and back. I'm going to be putting some Destination mudders on it, and I'm not sure about putting 305's (almost 35") on it because of the rear end. The motor should be more than enough, but the rear may have to go to 3.75. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be fine. On one of my previous trucks, 98 4x4 4.6 3.55 I ran 285/7516s with no problems. The truck wasn't all that powerful to begin with, but really didn't make much of a difference.

If you put 35s on a 4.6 it is going to move like a slug. You don't have to gear it down, but you will definitely want to.

I agree with deisele75, I have the 3.55 in a 5.4L and upgraded to 33's tires, I want to go to 4.10 to gain the loss power and then some. 35's with the 3.55 ratio will definitely be noticeable. If you gonna pay for a gear swap you may wanna consider gearing lower than just 3.73.

I appreciate the info. I think I'll just bump up to 33"s on this one.
