I have a 78 Crew and the holes in the body mount are only big enough to fit the bolt through. Or at least that's how I remember them. I have to head outside later, I'll take a look and confirm. But I don't think they're supposted to be that big. Did you buy the hardware kit with the bushings? I bought urethane bushings for the Crew, but didn't get the hardware, so I'll be ordering them up shortly.

Yes the hole in the frame mount is only big enough for a bolt. They usually rust out, making the hole much bigger when you take the old mounts off. You'll probably need to beef up the frame mount with some fresh metal to give a good support surface for the fresh mounts.

your bushings should have a metal callor that fits into the fram perch, the bolt goes thru the center of that, just measure your new mounts wher that sleave is and that will tell you. if you look in my gallery i have pics of the new/used frame mounts that i baught and installed on my 78 f-250

What he said! My cab perches were so bad the rubber bushing would pass right through the hole. Mike set me up with a nice set of cab perches.

Thanks for the kind woords guys. Actually to answer the guys first question, how big is the hole supposed to be. It is actually large enough for the drop down center nipple in the original rubber mount assembly to fit down in, about 1.25 inches or so if I had to guess. I think the new replacement rubber mounts come without this drop in nipple so you can get by with a smaller hole for the bolt only but I could be wrong. Check the rubber mount assembly you will be using and make repairs, replacements accordingly. Ford factory figuring made sure only rubber fit down on and down inside the hole, probably to reduce squeeks and wear but I've seen some replacement rubber mounts with no drop in nipple so...
