I have an 82 F250 that originally had AC. The A/C compressor died long ago, and I decided to remove it when I had the heads off a few months back. The bracket that holds the P/S pump was part of the AC bracket. I'm trying to figure out if there is a different bracket I can get that is only for P/S with some kind of adjuster. I found one on e-bay that looks like it might work.
The problem is that without the ac compressor, the rear of the factory bracket is only attached to the head with one bolt. After a while of driving, the P/S pump belt tension gets loose. Will that e-bay bracket sove my problem? Anyone have pics of a setup without AC?
That looks like a 77-79 bracket. Should work since it bolts to the water pump & head. Looks just like my f250, Bronco & g/fs f100 bracket plus a few extra holes where it bolts to the head.
I don't know for sure if a sb engine bracket would work. but you will also need the other bracket that holds the pump & goes into the engine bracket + the spacer that goes between the head & pump bracket.
mark a, is your pic a different bracket than the e-bay auction that i listed as an example in the first post? it looks like the same two pieces. thanks for mentioning the spacer though, i wasn't aware that their was one. I figured it mounted to something before the head but wasn't sure what.
lol...engine size would probably help. I have a 400CI 6.6L Thanks!
The Ford Parts Catalog makes NO reference to A/C on the brackets you requested. That means the brackets will work either way. The L shaped A/C Compressor bracket mounts to the P/S brackets, it is not a part of them.
I suggest you visit your local dealer and have him show you the pic in the book...here's the reference: 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog; Section 36.3 page 2 (Fiche 09-22)
Here are the part numbers for a 1982. Fits 351M/400 F Series and Bronco, will not fit Econoline Vans.
E0TZ-3A732-D 1980/82 .. from 5/80 (before 5/80 uses a dif bracket)
E0TZ-3C511-C Front Bracket .. 1980/82
E0TZ-3C511-D Rear Bracket .. 1980/82
There is NO spacer.
However, if your truck has an aftermarket add on A/C system, I have no idea if the P/S Brackets are different. Anything different would have come with the kit, and will not be listed in any Ford parts book.

I don't know if this will help any but I installed a bracket on my 74 truck wich was retrofitted with a 351c from a 73 mustang and the bracket wich looks just like the one mark a posted (came from a 79 400) had to be retrofited as well. All I needed to do was drill aother hole to match the one on the head (or block) and straighten that piece of metal since it sits in an angle. Since you plan on not using the ac bracket you will need to fill a gap whick the ac bracket will leave but a packet of washers will take care of that.
