Is there a difference between the custom cab and standard dashes in the wiring harness. My '66 is a custom cab with the sweep needle dash and oil, water, and amp guages. I need to find a complete dash warness (fuse block and all) and want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks all.
You actually will need two harnesses. I am, putting the 66 dash face in my '65 with the two extra (oil & ammeter) gauges and wondered how they hooked up. Went to a junk yard, in Fairfield and saw a '66 with this dash. Examination showed that there was a dedicated harness for just these two gauges heading out the firewall and splitting to the oil sender and the voltage regulator. So I removed the whole thing to add along with the new dash gauges. Now I just add it in connecting the two large wires to the ammeter and the smaller white/red to the oil gauge and then the ground. No need to do any more than that. I did happen to see two trucks up there with this harness. I took only one and the other is still there as of last week in a blue '66.
I had the sweep cluster in mine and it was cracked up. I love the look of the round cluster so I swapped. The only difference I found was the blinker indicator is a single unit on the sweep cluster and there were no provisions for 2 blinker set-up for the round cluster. Hope this helps.
