first i have a 2003 f-150 4x4 auto with the 4.6,79000kms. it is the xl version with ac. now whats happening lately in this cold weather (-15) when i drive to where ever after the truck is fully warmed up i will hear a odd whistling sound from the dash area every once in a while.this only happens during accereration.i swear its coming out of the vent area right around the controls.could this be a vacume leak at the climate control or just something thats happening because of the cold .? has anybody eles experienced this ? it just started the other day.im sure its not a bearing or pulley. ,but coming right from the climate control area.
got the same noise...i've heard that it's the power steering. another poster says that it was his air idle control. he cleaned it and the whistle went away. i haven't taken the time to check mine out...and i get deafer as the days go by anyway...

Hello, I clicked on this post because last week I had my IACV replaced to correct my RPM's rolling idle when in Park or neutral. Now I noticed on the highway I hear this whistle coming from the engine compartment seeming like it's in front of dash, and really located where the IACV sits. This really sucks cause I just replaces mine to get this sound. It's a FORD replacement part also. Any ideas? As maybe there's a break-in period?

My truck just started doing this too. the temp is around 5 deg F here. It seems to be louder when the rpms are higher. it does sound like a whistling, but it kinda sounds like something belt driven too. oh well its too cold to screw with it
