Which Style Engine Swap Kit Should I Use???

I know I have touched on this subject before but I was curious to see what everyone recommends for motor mounts. I am getting ready to put in a 302 and AOD into my 61 F100, I was curious if I should use the Crossmember style mount that Classic Perform has or should I use the Frame Mount Pad style with no crossmember? Don't plan on having a high horsepower motor just a cruiser. Thanks Fellas

Front mount might be the easiest since there is no fab work involved to the frame itself. However the AOD may not sit in the rear crossmember. I purchased my truck with a 351W/Cruis-o-matic combo. The engine was mounted with a bolt in side crossmember that had the engine sitting up 8 inches too high to clear the original rear crossmember. So the best bet IMHO is to simply use what makes it work for you. You should pull the front sheetmetal off so you can trial fit the engine to see if the AOD will fit with some bracket fabrications. Then go from there. Remember to check your drivshaft angles so you don't have funky vibrations later on down the road.

I have an engine crossmember in my 63. It had some pads in it before that were attached to each frame rail without connecting to each other, it eventually started cracking the frame and I took it out and bought a bolt-in crossmember from P.A.W.
Engine is a 390, trans is a C6 mounted to a stock '68 LTD/Galaxie trans crossmember.
They make a bolt-in crossmember for a variety of engines.

I'd use an X Member style for the reasons Bobby said. Especially if you plan on keeping the truck and want to do the best work you can. Stands do stress the frame where it lacks lateral strength, and in catastrophic failure there's nothing but the axle & steering linkage to keep the engine et al off the ground.
I agree with Mark, do what works for you. But since you asked, I've said what works for me. I've learned, always build everything as if I was going to run the Baja with it. I can't be too safe or cautious IMHO.

Cool thanks Fellas, I like the idea of running the crossmember instead of the frame pads. So is the crossmember installation pretty strait forward? I pretty good at working on cars and welding but I have never installed after market cross members into vehicles before.
