I ordered my DP tuner today. Spoke to jody and got the (stock) no start, 60 tow, 80 econ and 120 race. He said he caoud tweak the 60 tow to haul both my trailers, 12000 lb raptor and a 6000 lb sled trailer. So i went with his setup. Then i called BTS and ordered my VB built to Jody's spec, so it will be a perfect match. My question is this , i assume i can install the dp-tuner without the VB installed yet as long as i stay in the stock mode right? I am not sure, time wise if i can get both mods done at the same time. I plan on using my friends diesel repair shop to do the installs. Any idea on how long the dp tuner takes to install? or the valbe body? thanks Jeff
Yes, you will love the combination. You won't believe that just programming can make that much of a difference. For the DP tuner install, if you have not modified the computer yet, it will take about 15-20 minutes to pull the PCM, and then another 10 or so to clean the silicone off of the computer board that the chip attaches on to. I'd say that within an hour you will have the chip in, and within another hour and a half you will have the Valve body in. The VB is a little more involved as you need to pull the transmission pan, and yes it is messy.
SEEMS WE HAVE VERY SIMILAR TRUCKS, i ALSO HAVE A 2002 F-350 LARIAT CREWCAB. ONLY DIFFERENCE IS I HAVE THE 2-TONE PAINT AND A ARE HARD TOP COVER OVER THE BED. I NEVER HAD A LARIAT BEFORE THIS ONE BUT I LOVE THE HEATED SEATS AND LEATHER. i ALSO ADDED THE BACKUP SENSORS TO THE BUMPER. I HAD THEM ON MY F-250 GASSER AND GOT SPOILED. SO I HAD TO HAVE EM ON THIS ONE. ITS NICE TO BACK UP AND GET WITHIN 6 INCHES OF ANOTHER CAR, THEY SURE DO FREAK OUT WHEN I DO THAT...LOL THANKS FOR THE INFO TOO.... JEFF
Im getting so tired of reading that this guy ordered his DP tuner and that guy guy ordered his DP tuner. So to teach you all a lesson, Im gonna order a DP tuner. That will teach you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You bet. But in my defense, Ive only owned the truck for six or seven weeks and have done a few mods (listed below) in the order they needed to be done to prep for the DP Tuner.
Thats all that matters. That you got it properly set up before you went and tried to add power. It took me four times to get it right, with tunes before i did. Edge Juice/attitude, then stacked the Evo on it, and then TS performance chip, and now finally i got it right with a DP..

first of all con grads on the tunes and vb..your going to love them...
when I ordered my tunes and vb my tunes where here 2 weeks be for my vb..I put the chip in any ways...I was telling the guys here how I loved the tunes but my bts vb hadn't come in yet...Jody happened to be reading it and posted not to run over the 40 tow till the vb was installed.brians vb will hold more presure then a stock one..you better make time for the vb cause it was hard as hell not to try them tunes..
Well , Im glad you are tired of reading about this got his dp tuner today. I have been reading these post for about 2 years now and have been working on these mods since then. And I have figured I better do it in the correct order. So thanks to this place i have installed in this order... AIS intake, triple guages on the pillar, 4" ss exhaust, ITP overboost kit, and now the icing on the cake..DP tuner and bts valve body. So in response to twisted's statement, yes i'm so glad your tired of hearing about it because that means you will soon be in the whirlpool just like me with the mods... cant just do one... the only way it will stop is to not read this forum... so for me that cant happen.. because the FTE I have confidence that i have purchased all the correct mods for my truck and also got the best bang for my buck... thanks to all you guys out there who have helped me figure this diesel monster out... and all the installs i have am doing my self with the help from this forum.. Jeff
