[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Dec-02 AT 06:22 PM (EST)]There are companies you can buy dana 60s from custom built to fit the application you desire. They are set up to bolt on. You can set one up yourself. You might have to shorten it or move the spring pads. You also might check out a 14 bolt corporate rearend they also are bulletproof.
i just put a 10.25" rear end in my 88 bronco. it came out of a f 250 super duty. it bolted right up. the biggest problem is finding the u bolts and plates. i know this isn't a dana 60, but i am told that the 10.25" is strong enough for the EFI 460. hope this helps a little!

The 10.25 is much stronger than the D60 rear.
To the original question, if you get one from a 77.5+ truck it'll bolt right up. You might need a new rear u-joint, and I'm not sure about parking brake cables. You'll lose your RABS sensor but for an '88 it's no big deal and RABS is useless anyway.
