hello all, put a couple thousand miles on my 64 after replacing the clutch and now the column shifter just went. i pulled it apart and saw that the little piece on the shift tube broke off, and the shift collar broke at the base where the lever goes through. I replaced the collar (ebay, $8.50) and stuck the piece on the column tube with jb weld. put it together and can get in the gears ( though not as well as before, and it was sloppy before) but can't really get from 1st to 2nd, and for that matter don't really have the movement in neutral that i should (going up and down). was wondering if anyone has had this problem? don't know if it's a spring at the end of the collar or what, any advice would be appreciated, thanks guys (err...and gals?).
oh, and exnay on the floor shifter, a good part of my floorboard is plywood....but it's treated,....i think..

Did you happen to check the two shift forks at the bottom of the steering column underneath the hood? This is where the two shift rods attach, and go to the transmission. There are two bushings in those shift forks, they wear or break..the result is the lever hangs up. Forcing the lever breaks the shift collar (and sometimes the little swagged on re-inforced piece on the shift tube).
You will need one bushing and insulator kit for the shift forks. You didn't indicate 2 or 4 wheel drive, so I'll list them both.
