New Turbo

Well guys while hauling some hay last weekend, i blew the turbo hose off twice. Since i was loaded with 14 rolls i just put it back on as tight as i could. Wendesday dealer said they were replacing the turbo. My question? Is this turbo an improved one or same as what came on my 04 F250 FX4. Have not picked up truck yet will get it in the morning.

EAT MORE ANGUS!!!!!!

I wonder why they are replacing the turbo instead of the hose that blew off. There are updated hoses but I'm not sure of the turbo.

It's possible that the vanes are stuck in the turbo causing an overboost condition that's causing the hoses to blow off. They should probably clean the turbo first rather than replacing it or maybe they found some other problem causing it to overboost.

On my early '03, I had 2 turbos replaced. 1st at 13K in '05 & 2nd at 15K miles in '06. Both turbos were part #3C3Z-6K682-AARM. About a month after the 2nd one was installed Ford came out with a new turbo upgarde with the # ending in BARM. Tech at dealer said my 2nd turbo had tapers on the ends of the vanes to prevent them from sticking. I was also told I should drive the truck more which I am and now have 21K on the truck and have not had any problems with the turbo, knock on wood. I am also using Stanadyne fuel additive since the 2nd failure. Don't know if the part# hold true for your '04 but hope this info helps.

Had my 1st turbo replaced at 29K on my 05 PSD X. The part # was 4c3z-6k682-cbrm. Cause was rust between VGT fins and housing. Set off engine code P0299.
