Grrr.. Everyone in my neck of the woods keep saying ADDITIVES ADDITIVES.. So what should I get? From what I read I am set on getting Diesel Kleen.. Right? By PowerService or something.. Do I want the Gray or White? I don't need Gel Protection because it honestly doesn't get cold enough "HERE" to freeze me.
Also.. How many tanks should I use 1 bottle on? And what size.. I'm about to take the income tax check and get me like a case or two.. I got a good contact at Advance Auto Parts LOL.. But I need to know, is this something that I have to add to every tank? I'm seriously thinking its fuel.. I went 371 miles on my last tank.. This tank I put in, I got the fuel from a Valero Station in Austin.. I'm 148 miles at Half tank now.. So I'm being told to use an additive to boost the Cetane..
If you have no need for anti-gel properties, go with the grey bottle. Mines out in the truck, and I don't recall the ratio, but it's printed on the bottle.
It will provide a cetane boost as well as improved lubrication. The lubrication part is believed (known?) to be very important now that the ULSD is out.
Most use it every tank, but I doubt missing a tankful here and there will cause any problems (my opinion only...)
I wouldn't count on getting much of on improvement in mileage. Some report a small increase, but I haven't really noticed a difference.

I have been using Power Service since new and I have been adding 1/3 to 1/2 ounce per gallon of fuel. Usually I get about 27 gallons of fuel and add 9 ounces of Power service. The bottle says you can add that or double it. That's up to you. I did buy a funnel with a screen and valve on the bottom with measurement marks on the side so I just pour the right amount in and then open the valve and drop to the tank
I fill old water bottles with Power Service Diesel Kleen that I purchase from Wal Mart. I dump one bottle(14 to 16 ounces) into the tank before each fillup (20-30 gallons). Also, when changing the engine fuel filter I pour some Diesel Kleen into the filter housing before putting in the new filter. I've had no issues, now at 42,000 miles.
I think you'll be fine with the regular (gray) bottle. If you want to boost cetane to the max, you probably should add around 16 oz for a 29 gallon tank. I think the general thought is that you should use it every tank because of the extra lubrication it offers.
recently there have been a few people with gelling problems, i live in new hampshire and the past couple of nights it has dropped to below zero, i use powerservice in every tank, grey or white whatever the season and ive yet to have a problem with gelling or starting, truck fired right up both days at -3 degrees and it was not plugged in, yes i said not plugged in. just thought id share.
This morning I had -24F and my truck started right up, no block heater needed.Just cycled the glow plugs twice and away it went. It did its usuall "i'm cold" chugging for about a minute and then the high idle kicked in and it was fine. I'm using ford's additive now.
