With 1/4th mile, nothing. I did not read the whole post and when most people say "drag" (around here anyway) they are talking like a 1 mile drag.
Ah! Gotcha.
That's not drag racing though. That's street racing. Drag racing is a sanctioned event held at a closed course set up for a vehicle race event.
If you can't tell, it's a little bit of a sore subject with me when the news media uses the term "drag racing" whenever they are reporting on a street racing event gone bad.
On a side note, I'd love to be able to race at a track that could accommodate a one mile run! That would be very cool!

THANK YOU!!! Drag Racing is a sport that I dearly love and I despise street racing. It really pisses me off when the media confuses the two.
I've read people who say how fast and powerful their V10 is, and I have one, an '02 2WD, but it is nowhere near quick or fast. My wife's '97 Towncar will whoop the "X", I think even my '65 F250 w/352 will as well. It tows really well, but I think it's about as slow as they come. The PSD is a different story..
So what happens when your going 130 MPH with your 7,500 lbs. Excursion and see a car pull out infront of you 250 feet ahead? hmm...
About the same kind of thing that happens when they pull out 250 feet (or less) ahead when I'm only doing 60 mph. I simultaneously stand on the brakes and horn and hope the locate a clue before I abbreviate their ***.
Seriously, though, had a big scare recently. Freaky weather out here in Ontario lately. Last week was a full-on snow storm followed by a big thaw. The 401 Express lanes (the 401 is our major superhighway here) were awash with 3 to 4 inches of water in places.
One car (about 30 meters ahead) hit one of these at 130-ish km/h (65 mph) and lost it. The guy behind him tried to brake (wrong answer) in the water and also lost it. These two bounced off each other and the concrete barriers for awhile --- getting closer and closer to me.
Luckily, I was driving in a "bubble" (an area in the traffic void of cars) and just as I hit the pavement on the far side of the water, I was able to swerve and shoot through the two cars bouncing around.
Now... before everyone comes down and pontificates, a few things:
This was the first serious water-on-road we encountered (we being the westbound traffic). And, indeed, most people assume that water doesn't accumulate on the superhighways
_my_ tires didn't hydroplane and I had control over _my_ vehicle
if there was any warning, I certainly would have been travelling a little slower.
All three of us were travelling at the speed of the other traffic on the road that day.
I didn't get to see, but the two cars (and maybe quite a few others) were a real mess.
That website had a link to YouTube with an assortement of vehicles running the Texas Mile, one of them being a silver Lightning. Now I'm gonna post up on the L boards to see if anyone knows who that was.
I was down in Texas for a racing event and one of the guys down there had a lifted 4x4 7.3 Ex. For fun we decided to fill the truck up with people and take it down the track. It pulled a 17.1 with 8 people in it and consistent 16.6's otherwise.
I'd like to race mine once I get the Kenne Belle on there.
So this begs the question: What kind of race cars do you guys have?
This is my toy... It's a 98' GTP with a turbo 3800. Our company deals specifically with aftermarket performance parts for the 3800. Note the F150 towing it. 120,000 miles on the original 300 and E4OD and it still tows the setup. It's not even rated to tow that trailer...

To get a good 60 out of the hole you need a 4x4 in high. Also a built trans with a higher stall converter if you want it to last.
Drag racing in the brakets, you just dial in your time. The faster car leaves first, and if you beat him without breaking out of your dialed in time you win. Or you automatically win if he breaks out.
