Well, my CPS finally went. Took the kids to dinner, walked back out, and wouldn't start. After reading about the CPS going on the truck, I figured it was this or the fuel pump b/c I couldn't hear it.
I picked up a coke bottle up off the ground in the parking lot, drained off some fuel from the bowl, and turned the engine on again. The fuel pump made a bunch of noise, so that did it. Called a buddy & he brought the kids & I home. I grabbed my Diablo & went back. Sure enought diagnostics said CPS.
After the visit to the dealer, I sat in the car for a bit... the darn thing cost $199. All the pricing I looked up on on the net last night showed $149. So tell me, did Ford have a price increase in parts to cover their current losses or did my local dealer do me wrong?
Just one hint for those of you how know this is coming and have one in your glove box. Put a small flat head screwdriver in there too 'cause you're going to need it to pry that old CPS out. I thankfully had my leatherman.
Now that I've had time to consider the pricing thing, I'm likely going to call a few other dealers & check the price there... I feel like I was ripped off
Thanks to everyone in the forum for writing their experiences, it's saved me once again.

That is a lot of $$ for CPS. EBay is the answer, $50 (black one).
ebay, Ford part, less than $60 w/shipping, had it in three days, in the glove box.
Yeah verily, it was one of those "round-to-it" things, but I didn't & leaving my truck at the China Buffet for 3 days or paying to tow it just didn't appeal to me .
chalk it up to lesson learned... I'll buy a $2 10mm socket & ratchet, a screw driver, and put some silcone greese in there glove box & life will go on.
Funny, I was just replying to the last post and remembered that I didn't bring any silicone grease with me to the truck, so I improvised a little to lube the "o-ring" on the CPS. I used the Blistex lip balm that I had in my pocket...
I guess, I now have to pull it out & do it right now that I remembered.
