Engine wont start unless.......

Okay I think I my have a bad cable end on the right battery cable connection where the cable goes into the large lead clamp is all corroted I sliced the cable back about 3" and it is all but gone, barely hanging on but by a couple strands I would have never known just by looking at it. as far as the block heater I think the element may be bad I have power to it but nothing out. I am going to put new cables on both sides I will let you know how It goes . The relays for the glow plugs there are 2 correct? one on the rightside fender and one under the fuel filter cover , Are they just standard 4 post relays or are they special? snolver: And the new battery cables (replace both, right?) maybe the ground as well, will solve your problems.
Also remember to Ohm your heater's plug to see if it is good. It may be.

Thanks guys I replaced all the cables and it that seems to have fixed the problem, it started just fine this morning, wow I cant believe those cables were that bad, just by looking at them they appeared fine now my truck is charging between the r and m on the gauge right where it used to. As far as my block heater I get nothing on my ohm meter so I guess Ill have to replace it. I will have to drain my coolant to do this I suppose ? I couldnt believe the dealer even had them she is good to go now. Thanks again tjbeggs, 1969fordguy
