52" springs
I first located the donor truck, and removed the springs, and the front hanger from the frame (chebbie). Then I removed both the front, and rear hangers from My 75' Ford. I used the original front hanger at the rear of the truck, and attatched the shackle. It now faces down, instead of up. (tension vs. compression) I then centered the new springs into the wheel well, and found the mounting locations for the front hanger, that came from the donor truck. The chebbie hanger is longer, and sits lower than the orginal one. This is important to compensate for the drop in the mounting location for the rear shackle. It just so happenad that I was able to use one of the original rear hanger mounting holes for the front hole in the new hanger. This ensured that the axle would stay square. After a few new holes were drilled in the frame, and new grade 8 hardware was installed. I was able to run a big tire with great flex, and a very good ride quality. The spring pack that you choose, will determine ride, and weight capacity, etc, etc. I went with a 1/2 ton spring. Was done in about 1 day, and a few beers.
For the front, I had Deaver spring arch a set that are 59" long, with an offset pin to keep the axle in the middle of the wheelwell. It required a new shackle be mounted at the frame,as it is now about 6" further back under the cab, but that too was easy, but not as cheap as the rear.
