Well my remote controll broke for my tv so now i do know what its like to not have a remote controll. It really sucks. Ive been using a broomhandle for about a month now.
ok, I didn't feel particularly old until I read this thread, not as old as some on here obviously but I do remember when most of that stuff was going on. Heck I was with my first wife when the first space shuttle blew up, and although poor taste I can still remember all the jokes, like what does NASA stand for? (need another seven astronaut's)
I remeber jaws, star wars, and a bunch more and even saw groups like the scorpians when they were a warm up band for Ted Nuggent, you know the guy that does the offroad shows on cable TV. Heck I saw Heart when they were competing in a local battle of the bands concert. I remember when we actually impeached a president for actually doing something wrong, and he was forced to leave office too. and I remmber when Hank Jr fell off a mountain and was almost killed. I remember when nascar teams had to actually use real cars too.
Ya I'll be up at 3 AM wishing the winter sun would come up so I can try and get something done. Outfit I was going ta work for in the spring (under the table) just went belly up. Or back in my day we called it **** up. So wait and see if the Doc's can fix me up so I can get a real job. I can still pull anyting and overhule it. Just tack a while, And Mama to help lift a head every now and then. No not like that.
I'm 29, be 30 in two months...and it's not really the age that defines getting old, it's what you remember and that' what makes you start to think about how time is flying and you remember when......... ' I used to hold my first niece (i don't have kids yet) on my chest when she was about 4 lbs and now she's 16. She is at the age of probably doing things (hopefully not) that I remember myself getting into when I was 16. SCARREY!!! Where does time seem to go?
In my mind I'm not old ( 60). Not until I actually want to do some of my harebrained ideas, and my body wants to cast a veto. We usually compromise.
I remember sitting around the kitchen and listening to the radio. Just one dim light on -- Not music, but the various half hour shows they used to have.
No TV at our house till I was 8 or so.
And I remember the one telphone (party line). If the gabby neighbor wasn't on, I could make a call. But, of course the whole fam damily could hear you -- pretty inhibiting for any teenage conversations.
It all seems good looking back, until I remember a few other things. Like cars were easy to work on -- good thing because you frequently had to!
Anyway,
