302 info please d90e

igot numbers off the block maby some one can tell a specfic year. hp tq rating heads. heres the # d90e-6013-e3a then in small stamping 8j26 .then 37. and 79 with a circle around it. thanks

Te very first line on this page has a listing for casting number decoding....

In any event those heads are '79 vintage... which was right in the thick of the smog era. They have hugh chambers(69cc) which didn't build much compression and as a result the engine these came from probably had the lowest specific power output of any modern V8 at a measly 145hp or so...

so what can i do to id the heads without pulling them off .also whats the 79 vintage heads as far as sparkplug size 3/8 ths .thanks bro

You can take off the intake and use a mirror to look under the edge of the head for a casting number.

In 79, about the only heads you'll see on a 302 are the D8OE boat anchors.

soo they suck huh so what if i put e7s on it will it bring the hp up some oh and theres no smog hole in the exzaust ports what things do i look for to id D8OE heads??

D8OE on the bottom side of one intake runner. Pedestal rockers too as are all 78-up small block heads.

E7's would raise the comp ratio by about a half point or more, I don't have a calculator handy. Higher comp ratio = more hp.
