defrost problems
My 85 cannot seem to deliver air up to the windshield. I have had everything completely apart, even the control switch assy. Everything works. All I can find is under the dash speaker where the ductwork connects, the is a spot where the defrost duct connects in and there seems to be about an inch gap when this piece is screwed in where it belongs. Surely there wasn't a boot there was there? Fan works fine, plenty of air, just can't seem to move it up! whaddya think?

I completely removed and cleaned the switching assembly, meaning complete disassemble, cleaned all vacuum ports, cleaned all electrical contacts, carefully reassembling afterwarb with a small amount of lube in all the correct spots. All flaps, doors APPEAR to be working. I am pretty good mechanically, but I also had a friend over to look and he can't find anything either. I can deal with the problem, it's more a matter of when the wife drives it occasionally.
