Defrost

My 81 has aftermarket or deal installed air, and the compressor doesn't run when the heat or defrost is on. Its my understanding that you still need it blowing air up the windshield to keeo it from fogging up on a cold day. I was looking at the back of HVAC controls, and I can't figure out where an electrical connection can be made on the blend and diverter contols. I need some kind of connection to the controls so that cold+defrost=compressor on. I'm not sure with my duct layout if its even possible to get warm air out the vents, and cold air out the defrost. Suggestions? PS: The air system installed was from ARA

Dealer and/Or aftermarket A/C is not connected to the heater at all. The only thing it can do is dehumidify the cab. Turn the heater controls to full heat and defrost, and the a/c on but the temp up on it as well instead of colder is the only thing you can do.

Factory A/C on these models doesn't really have the ability to do this either by the way the hvac controls are setup.

Think of all the vehicles built that don't have *any* AC at all yet they still
operate just fine.

As stated, the only thing the AC will do is help dehumidfy the air in the cab,
resulting in fogged-up windows getting cleared faster but they'll still get
cleared even without it.

It's a nice-to-have-but-not-essential thing.

Alright, I allready put some rainx anti-fog stuff on the inside of the windshield, but i'm checking all the bases before it starts getting real cold. I just replaced the blend cable this afternoon, and it looks like the ductwork is seperate anyways.
