i have a 89 f250 with a 351w. if i go to a high flow cat what do i do with those two emissions hoses going into the cat. also i have emissions coming up in like 2 months should i hold off on the switch or do it now.
weld bungs in new pipe reconect all tubes. By the way if your worried about its being legal now , what are you going to do next year after swap.? Good luck
i dont care about being legal as i already have no muffler with just a pipe and a chrome tip coming out in front of the rear passanger tire. but what i want to know is if a high flow cat will still be enough to pass emissions
You can buy the high flow cats with bungs already on them. I have a friend who bought these and then put screw in lengths of pipe a few inches, bought some exhaust rated silicone hose, cut off the pipe ends a ways up from the old cat connections and put the hose on the pipe out of the bung to the emmisions pipe.
In your case you may be able to purchase 1 cat with a bung for an O2 sensor, screw in a Y pipe in the bung that would take both your emmisions pipe connections. You can purchase the exhaust rated silicone hose online. The Bassani replacement Y-Pipe comes with a length of hose for that type of connection.
As far as passing the emmisions test, I don't know if it would or not. It is supposed to be ok.
I put magnaflow high flow cats on my f-150 and I think they came with 1 tube for the hookup but the other is just laying there. Never had a problem with emissions or anything else.
