LAST EDITED ON 12-Aug-00 AT 10:39 AM (EST)[p]I just bought a 1947 1/2 ton 8 cylinder Ford and have a few questions, could someone help?
1 How many 4 speeds were made?
2 What would be the model 69C?
The truck has been on a farm in California for the last 25 years. Thanks for any help and I enjoy your site I
know I will have more questions when the truck is delivered.
Hi Ron,
Are you sure it is a '47, not a '46? The reason I ask is that I tried to look up the info for you, and my book shows the 1946 1/2 ton with a V8 as model 69C, and the 1947 1/2 ton with a V8 as being a model 79C.
P.S. I'm from New Jersey too!

Thanks Kenny for getting back to be. I lost my pin till now so thats why it took so long to answer you. I am know that the truck is a 1947 so I had the model worng. It is a 79C as you said. Do you know how the number of four speed that were made? I should have the truck this weekend.
Ron,
According to my book.......
Series 79C = 1/2-ton, 114 in. wheelbase, 239.4 cid. L-Head V-8 (100 hp. at 3800 RPM. Bore & stroke: 3-3/16 in. x 3-3/4 in. Compression ratio: 6.75:1 Carburetor: two-barrel)
Body type 80 = platform
81 = Chassis & cab
82 = panel
83 = pickup
84 = chassis & cowl
The book doesn't say how many four speeds were made. Sorry,
Kenny
Hi Ron, I really wish that I could help you here, but I'm not at all familiar with that engine. If you don't get any other responses here on this conference, you should maybe try posting this question on the General Engine Building conference. Someone there might be able to help you out.
