temps

i installed my gauges a little while back and i have some questions as to what my temps should be. i have a chip, exhaust and intake. around town i run egt of 450-600, but usually closer to 600. my tranny runs around 110-130, but i just made a long trip and on the highway it was about 130 but when i got off and took it out of overdrive it was bottomed out as the gauge starts at 100. whats the deal with that, i was still running about the same rpms. just in case this has any relevance to the temps it is a 96 f350 with an auto and 4.10s.

Those are very cool tranny temps, do you have a bigger cooler on it? The egts sound fine just keep them under 1250. Exhaust temps vary so much that its hard to say what yours will run and what mine does.

no cooler on the tranny, air temps were cold though, dont know if that has anything to do with it or not. and is it normal for the tranny temp to rise when you stop and then cool down when you start driving again. it makes sense to me because there is air flowing around the tranny while driving, i just want to make sure this assumption is correct

well egt's are fine. trans temps are fine to let me explain. you do have a trans cooler it probably just the stock one behind the grill. when you take the truck out of overdrive the fan will be spinning faster so its moving more air. while your fan clutch may not be lock up solid it will still spin faster at higher rpm.

it is also normal for temps to rise when you stop (no air flow) and then go down when you start to drive again.
