read an article, sorry i dont have it to print, that Ford is sueing Navistar International for failure to pay ther part of 6.0 warranty repairs.this kinda makes me cring.hop this dosnt affect the 6.4 program
They have several threads in the 6.4 on this. They are still in contract with navistar until 2010 I believe. IMO Ford is just as at fault for rushing them...just my .02.
yea the bean counters at ford pushed the release of the 6.0 and are gonna do it to the 6.4.crap like that will turn around and bite you.what sucks about it is the die hard ford diesel buyers arnt getting the product that they deserve.
Ford is not pushing the release of the 6.4. That engine has over 1 million miles of cumulative evaluation done by on-road testing, that's public knowledge and the release has actually been delayed.
Yes, the 6.0 should have been tested more prior to it's release, that horse has been well beaten on this website and many others for a few years now and it's just about dead.... with the exception of chebbie and Cummins/Dodge websites.

They had as many hours testing the 6.0's also!!!!!!!!!! all of the testing showed it to be the best out there. The reflashes caused more troubles than the stock programing did. It even won an award in 2003 for the best diesel engine produced that year.... And yes they are pushing the release of the 6.4 sooner than even Ford is wanting. They tried to delay them untill mid year and were not able to because of the new emission limits for 2007. Chevy and Dodge also were trying to get the emission limit pushed back until mid year. Alll I can say is good luck to all that will own one of the earlier ones. Ford did learn alot from the 6.0 so they will be better off than the early 6.0's
the 7.3's had problems at first just like the 6.0 and the 6.4 will be no diff at first im sure....I just cant wait to see what the tuners will be able to do with em.
I'm waitn til late 08 to buy my 6.4 hopefully people like Matt will have some bad as# tunes for the sct for them and hopefully most of the bugs will be worked out by then.

Please clarify who 'they' are.
I've never read nor heard of extensive testing of the 6.0 as they've done with the 6.4. Please direct me to that information as I would like to read about that.
The other issue with the 2003 6.0 was the lack of Ford trained and certified Technicians. There was little training when that engine was released sop when issues did arise some of the Techs were guessing at the repairs since they had little direction from Ford. 6.4 training started early on and I believe there are already Certified 6.4 Technicians. If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow sans condiments.

Kepler4: They= FORD They (FORD) have just released files for the 6.4 to the techs and I have looked at them they show the small differences in the designs (head bolts etc.) and how to repair certain issues with them other than that there has been no training on the 6.4 at any of the 3 local dealers here. FYI one is the second largest in Oregon. I will search for the links you ask of and will post if I can find them. I studied the 6.0 for 3 months before buying one and there was plenty of information at that time. I bought one of the first ones made. Nov 02 build date. It ran great untill they reflashed it and removed the engine hold back and pilot injection.
If you want to read an article that tested it and the other diesels out there. Pick up trucks .com had a western diesel shoutout that ran them all head to head...
Don't get me wrong I am a prying that Ford got it right the first time with the 6.4. Ford need this to stay #1 in the truck segment and I am sure they are doing whatever they can to stay there.
Like you said kw5413 some of the techs. They trained prior to the release of the 6.0 also.
Well, there is no sense in trying to project what will happen between the two litigants and not much more can really be said about that. Certainly not with any authority.
In regards to the 6.4. There really isn't much more to say about that either, here in the 6.0 Forum. It hasn't even been released to Joe Consumer yet. Let's hope it all works out for the best.
