I have a 2001 F 250 crew cab with a V10 and the cruise control will surge between 65 and 70 MPH. Its fine below 65 or above 70, and also it will surge badly when using resume from low speeds. Any ideas to make this problem go away?
I've noticed my truck does the "Surging" as well when I'm at highway speeds. If I set the cruise betwen 65 and 75 (I haven't set it higher), when I come down from a hill, it seems to scew up the cruise control, and it can't find a steady speed. It will cause the truck to surge until I turn off the CC. I've noticed I have to wait a few minutes before I enable the CC again for it clear, or it will go back to surging again.
The only thing that seems to make it happen is when the CC is set and I am coming down a small hill, or any place were the truck is coasting and then has to find the speed I set it at. If I come down a hill, and go to level ground it still does it, so it's not normal. Once it starts surging, it won't stop until I turn it off.
This is *NOT* normal. I can actually feel it moving the gas pedal back and forth. The best feeling I can describe is like the truck is running out of gas and surging / pulsing.
Any suggestions out there? My truck is in the sig.
