Surging Cruise Control
Hi, I noticed on my 1993, 7.3 IDI, Manual trans. pickup that it has a very repetitive surge when engaged at say 65 mph. The surge is definitely a "short" or "close" surge, but quite steady. It is not a long type surge that takes you up and down even a mile or two per hour. You can feel it and watch the tach needle move up and down the scale a hundred or so R's constantly. I remember my 6.9 with an auto. trans. and the vacuum servo fluctuated worse that this. This one has the electronic servo and I expected it to be perfect......but, well, I guess nothing is perfect!

I have the same issue. I changed the differential oil and cleaned the tone ring but it didn't seem to do anything. I also changed the speed sensor, but it got even worse.
After some research, there was at one time a repair of the speedo cluster for a slight surge in the speedo which also affected cruise. I checked with a repair shop and the kit to fix it is no longer available.
