I have a 97 7.3......248K......had it since new......got a fuel leak......saw a few drips from a couple of the rubber hoses......replaced them all....also replaced replaced the sensor the looked like an oil sending unit....it was leaking too.......started the truck.......ran for the rest of teh day.....got in it this morning......started fine the shut off......hasn't run since.....will not start....have fuel pressure at all teh lines.......wait light is not on....with switch on....instead of the usual one click till wait light goes off......I hear a relay clicking....please go easy on the three letter abbriviations......Ive had this truck since new and first trouble I've had.....accustomed to gassers......thanks
Any blown fuses? Not all that many things can keep the wait to start (WTS) light off. A shorted fuel heater will shut the WTS light off and keep the truck from starting.
It is the upper electric connection on the driver's side of the fuel filter housing. It's a little towards the back sort of underneath the fuel pressure regulator. Also check fuse #22 under the hood.
If you unplug it and replace the fuse it should start, assuming that was the problem. You probably don't need a heater where you are. It can be replaced though if you want to. It should be turning over even with the fuse out, just not starting. The thing that looks like an oil sending unit is called a vacuum switch.
#7 fuse outside box...30a is blown.....checked driver's side of filter canister.....two connections...one above the other......which is heater??.......going now to check inside fuses.......lost owners manual.....reason for fuse questions
Heater is a single wire on the drivers side of the filter bowl. Black with a red trace if I remember correctly. Unplug the heater replace the blown fuse and see if you get the WTS light.
well........unplugged the lower connection.....the one with the red stripe.......replaced fuse.........got a WTS light.......went out as it's supposed to.......still no start.......now batteries bout dead will try agin in the morning.....any chance the heater is teh upper connection??
I know about that one......replaced the sensor because it was leaking.......but there are two more below it......both on the fuel canister........I have unplugged the lower one with a red stripe.
