Yeah the gassers have their ways of getting power wether its a turbo or supercharger. But i like the powerstrokes, they are fast but i have seen some pretty fast V10s too.

I think the average fastest drivable trucks are modern modded deisels. You can give your 500RWHP chipped/turboed whatever to your GF, and she can go get groceries and whatever and NOT call you when it's overheating in traffic, or spilling your coffee when leaving a stop sign. My chipped/exhuasted 7.3 is far from the modern deisels we have in terms of power today, but I've seen some pretty raunchy V8 trucks in my rear view mirrors once the turbo spools up. It looks like that lightning has plenty of HP, but gives up about 300FTLBS of torque on hand to the modded deisel.

Blurry, How much money does it take a V10 CC SB 4x4 into the 13's? Now how much money does it take to get a 6.0 PSD CC SB 4x4 into the 13's? Hmm, lets see, SCT-430$ish, Exhaust-450$, Airraid-230$, Gauges-300$

Look fellas, I love the Powerstroke diesel pickups. I've driven a couple (03 & 05) for many miles and even a few passes down the track...they're simply amazing vehicles. As for the V10s, I've had very little time behind the wheel of one, as compared to a diesel, so I don't really have an opinion. One thing I do know is that all of our trucks bare the same emblem on the grill; we're all on the same team.

I find it hard to compare HP/TQ numbers between a truck like mine and say a CC diesel...kinda like comparing a blown F-150 to a bolt-on mustang; one makes less power but the other weighs quite a bit more. However, these debates can be settled at the track (and I love to race ), and the WIN light goes to the one that crosses the finish line first, which goes back to my original post:

6.0 and 7.3 both have power adder. cost 5-6 grand more, I have driven a stock 6.0 for work and it is faster and more powerfull than my stock 01 or 03 v10s, and it should be, turbo for the v-10 about 4-5 grand and they do put up bigger numbers than a stock 6.0, if I were going to tow 10+ thousand or tow for a living I would have a 7.3 or 6.0 (or a "B") however I run my truck at the dunes and offroad, where the gasser is the king.

how is the gasser the king of the sand? how can you say a turbo'd V10 is equal to a STOCK 6.0? a turbo'd v10 would get horrible fuel mileage and would less reliable. Take that 6k turbo V10 and put it up against a SCT'd 6.0 thats in a similiar truck. I betcha the 6.0 would take it in the Quarter Mile.

I say that because when I go to the silver lake and hit the sand I fly past most of the dsl. trucks I have had a couple that could run with me, and those were on 40+ tires I usually pick on the dodges, because most of those suck in the sand (and I drive a ford) I love to sail past a dsl. thats blowing a black tornado, really pisses them off.
No I do not think a turbo v10 would last longer than a 6.0, Yes a v10 with a turbo does suck fuel, just like a v10 without a turbo. This summer I will be at the dunes and it would be nice to have a few of the dsl. trucks there to run with, I plan on running the SD up at US131 this year at a few TandT nights I should be in the 14s with a stock motor, intake/exaust a new tune from pauls high performance and a little spray.
keep in mind that most dsl. do take time to get up to rpm, they said that my mustang would never run 12's on the stock motor 3550lbs race weight, with no cams or power adder, they were wrong and it does get 22 mpg on the highway. You do know that it does not require 750 feet lbs of torque to run a 14 sec. 1/4 mile in a gasser even in a SD. And no I do not want to race you while pulling 10,000 lb trailers, because yes your 6.0 will win.

so your saying you will be making over 750lbs of tq in your SD to break it into the 14's? i think your calculations or the calculator you are using are incorrect, because i know our truck is only making about 720lbs of tq or so to the wheels. You said that most Diesels not DSL, take time to get up to RPM, but its only till the turbo spools, which would be similiar to a turbo'd v10 if not quicker spoolup time.
i have videos of our 14 sec 1/4th mile run. go to youtube and type in banksforddiesel99 in the search section and there is several videos of it, and one of the dually at the track.

should be about 440 hp at the rear wheels, and 580tq at the rear wheels. what I ment to say was that the 720rwtq you made on your dyno run is very impressive however that is way more than is required to run 14s in a gasser, and yes I am very familiar with how a turbo on a diesels works, I have worked on 8v92ti's, perkins,yanmar,6.9ih,and an 06 B series, I will have some pics and time slips when the weather gets a little warmer, I think the v10 is a little doggie when stock but they do respond to mods very well ( for being NA ) when I got my 03 I thought "man this pos is a dog" I had just sold my 01 that I had modded, now my 03 runs better than my 01 ever did, I run lockers and it will melt the 35's, I will post when I go to the track and also when I hit the sand so I can meet up with some other SD freaks and go slap the B's around.

6.0 vs V-10

Hey I own a 2001 F-350srw w/5spd man with a super cab lwb that has a V-10. It is a stout engine ! I wish I had gottn a 4:10 rear end instead of 3:73. 1st gear is awsome
will pull lots of wieght. I keep loaded most times. I oughta wiegh it sometime an see what it tips the scale at. I have 140,000 HARD miles I run straight pipes on it. gut the cat toss the muffler .. loud!! yes! sounds like a souped up 300 6 banger! HA HA but it's cool. THEN I BOUGHT A 2004 4X4 CC SB with the 6.0 PSD 5spd auto trans. I LOVE THE POWER THAT IT HAS AN FAST TOO!! I CAN BRAKE TORQ THAT SUCKER GET THE TURBO TO SINGIN CUT THE BRAKES LOOSE AN GET WITH IT !! HAVE REMOVED THE MUFFLER AN THATS ALL I VE DONE. WILL SOON SEE ABOUT A MILD TUNNER AN INTAKE. I GET 13.9 MPG ON INTERSTATE EMPTY AN DRIVIN 75--80 MPH. MY V-10 GETS 10 IF I'AM LUCKY... BUT YEP THERE IS A WIEGHT ISSUE. I WILL LOAD THE 6.0 AN SEE HOW IT DOES LATER ON.
BOTTOM LINE IS I LOVE THEM THAR FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCKS!! WHEN I DIE I WISH TO BE BURIED IN ONE ! HAVE FUN FELLERS!!!!!

remove the cat on your 6.0 and throw on an custom tuned SCT and you will be REALLY happy with a super strong running truck...
